PICS Telecom’s Certifications Means Quality — And Peace of Mind

PICS’ Certifications: A standard in quality

PICS Telecom has made sustainability not simply a goal, but an integral part of its business. We provide telecommunication companies with business solutions (reusing, reselling and recycling) to help them manage their network assets in the most environmentally friendly way possible. To aid us with our commitment to the environment and to customer satisfaction, PICS Telecom (both the U.S. and EMEA facilities) has earned a number of certifications. These certifications assist us in the following ways: They continually help us improve our processes, identify and mitigate risks related to our operations, help us set realistic targets and objectives based on historical data and trends, and finally (but not least) ensure that we follow local regulations.

Please note: PICS Telecom EMEA is certified to ISO 14001 and ISO 9001. We are an ATF (Authorised Treatment Facility), which is also WAMITAB (Waste Management Industry Training Advisory Board) qualified. PICS Telecom U.S. is certified to ISO 14001, 9001, OHSAS 18001, TL9000 and R2.

Below is an explanation of each of them and their impact on PICS’ activities:

PICS Telecom EMEA and U.S.

ISO 9001:2008 – This international certification tackles quality management issues that specifically address customer satisfaction in the following ways: It provides products/ services that customers want and also works to enhance customer satisfaction. Businesses that wish to earn this certification are audited by an accredited third party.

ISO 14001:2004 – This certification helps businesses implement requirements and policies related to an Environmental Management System or EMS. It helps companies with its processes related to the environment while complying with applicable legislation both in its operation and throughout the supply chain. To earn this certification, PICS Telecom is audited by third party institutions which visit our facilities to validate that PICS policies and records are in compliance with requirements.

On September 3, 2015, PICS Telecom EMEA, passed its ISO 14001 maintenance audit. This audit, performed by the British Standard Institution or BSI, is a process that ensures a business can maintain 14001 standards.

PICS Telecom U.S.
R2:2013 – This standard provides principles and best practices to businesses that work in the recycling and electronic refurbishment industries. To earn it, organizations must develop and implement a policy that effectively manages surplus and end-of-life electronic parts in a way that complies with legislation and is considerate of the environment and the workers that handle the equipment throughout the supply chain.

OHSAS 18001:2007 – It is an international certification that addresses issues related to the health and safety of workers both in its operation and throughout the supply chain. It helps companies to develop policies, training, and objectives that minimize risk any employees impacted by PICS’ activities.

TL9000 – Global standard specific to the telecommunications industry. Based on the ISO 9001 standard, it develops and implements directives related to quality across the supply chain. These include improving delivery, cutting costs, becoming more competitive, offering better services to customers and improving supplier relationships among others.

Integrating these standards into a single quality management system helps PICS Telecom efficiently comply with all requirements while improving quality, reducing pollution and minimizing health risks to workers. Consequently, customers can rest assured that they are dealing with a world leader in telecommunications asset recovery.
